Motor Insulation Monitoring System

Developed for wind turbines, this online insulation monitoring device uses DC injection to measure cable and motor-winding insulation. Interlocked with the turbine circuit, it automatically withdraws from monitoring and disconnects from the grid during generator operation. When the generator stops, it automatically monitors insulation between stator windings and ground, rotor windings and ground, and stator and rotor windings.

Monitoring Challenges

Conflict Between Monitoring and Generation
Conflict Between Monitoring and Generation
Traditional measurements require shutdown: frequent tests lose generation, while infrequent tests increase fault risks.
Incomplete Coverage and Human Error
Incomplete Coverage and Human Error
Most wind farms still rely on manual pitch bearing inspections requiring work at height and on-site attendance. Work is demanding and exposes personnel to falls, extreme temperatures and strong winds, with greater challenges at remote sites. Manual inspections are subjective, prone to missed faults and infrequent, preventing 24-hour monitoring and effective response to sudden faults. Heavy staffing requirements further increase O&M costs.
No Early Warning and Sudden Shutdowns
No Early Warning and Sudden Shutdowns
Traditional methods identify faults only after occurrence and cannot track insulation deterioration, risking costly unplanned shutdowns.
Manual Operation and Isolated Data
Manual Operation and Isolated Data
Traditional monitoring depends on on-site manual operation, without data storage or remote transmission, and cannot integrate into intelligent wind farm management.

Product Advantages

Intelligent Coordination Without Disrupting Generation

Automatically measures when the turbine stops and withdraws when it runs, without manual state assessment. This addresses the need to stop generation specifically for testing while balancing monitoring frequency and generation revenue.

Accurate Monitoring of All Critical Points

Covers all critical motor insulation fault locations without blind spots. Standardized measurement eliminates human interference, maintains stable accuracy and accurately reflects insulation condition.

Early Warnings to Prevent Shutdowns

Shifts from corrective action to prevention by identifying insulation aging and deterioration trends early, enabling planned maintenance and avoiding sudden turbine shutdowns caused by insulation breakdown.
A Digital Closed Loop for Lower Costs and Higher Efficiency

Replaces on-site manual operation, removing associated labor and safety costs. Remote monitoring, centralized storage and traceability support insulation trend analysis and seamless integration with digital, intelligent wind farm O&M, forming a monitoring–warning–response loop.
