Blade Clearance Radar Monitoring System

The blade clearance radar monitoring system uses IMon-B300. When clearance approaches the specified minimum, the turbine controller can immediately reduce speed or feather the blades. Three customized solutions address different requirements to balance safety and economic performance.

Three Monitoring Solutions:

LiDAR Monitoring: Dense laser beams measure precise distances and angles to obstacles to construct a high-precision model.

Vision-Only Monitoring: High-definition cameras capture video, while computer vision and deep learning identify objects and calculate their positions and distances.

Video and Millimeter-Wave Radar Fusion: Combines visual sensing and radar data. Radar accurately measures distance and speed independently of lighting; video provides appearance, classification and supplementary localization.

Monitoring Challenges

Harsh-Environment Interference and Poor Monitoring Stability
Harsh-Environment Interference and Poor Monitoring Stability
Wind farms often occupy mountains, offshore sites or deserts. Sunlight, rain, snow, fog and dust can distort optical and microwave data and cause false or missed alarms, preventing reliable all-weather monitoring.
Complex, Variable Conditions Make Accuracy Difficult
Complex, Variable Conditions Make Accuracy Difficult
Rapid blade rotation, changing blade posture and varied obstacles make real-time ranging difficult for traditional methods, causing false-alarm shutdowns or missed-alarm collisions and creating a trade-off between safety and generation efficiency.
Rigid, Single-Technology Solutions Fit Applications Poorly
Rigid, Single-Technology Solutions Fit Applications Poorly
Mountain, plain and offshore wind farms have different needs. Traditional single-technology approaches lack customization and can cause unnecessary expense or inadequate protection.
High O&M Costs and Low Management Efficiency
High O&M Costs and Low Management Efficiency
Dispersed equipment requires individual manual inspection and maintenance, particularly difficult at remote sites. Inconsistent data interfaces prevent O&M platform integration, limiting remote monitoring and intelligent management.

Product Advantages

Safety Protection with Ultra-Fast Response

Captures changing blade clearance in real time and instantly signals the main controller to reduce speed or feather blades. Seamless monitoring, warning and protective action prevent blade–obstacle collisions and establish a first line of operational defense.

Multiple Solutions for Precise Application Matching

Offers customized LiDAR, vision-only and video-plus-millimeter-wave-radar solutions for different applications, accuracy requirements and budgets. Whether for high-precision complex conditions, low-cost simple applications or harsh all-weather environments, solutions balance protection and generation returns without sacrificing suitability.

Robust Technology and Reliable Data

Core technologies combine precision and adaptability. LiDAR creates high-precision 3D environmental models; millimeter-wave radar withstands strong sunlight, heavy rain and fog; vision uses deep learning for accurate recognition. All approaches provide accurate, stable distance, speed and obstacle data to support protection decisions.
Lower Costs, Higher Efficiency and Easier O&M

Reduces collision losses and shutdown risks, supports remote monitoring and lowers manual inspection and O&M costs.
